Valle de Maiz
$99.00 – $249.00
Description
The month of May is filled with religious festivals in San Miguel de Allende. One of the biggest is the Festival de Valle de Maiz at the end of the month. It lasts for almost two weeks, although the highlight for most people will be the final weekend. The parade around town on the final Sunday attracts thousands of spectators and almost as many participants. You will see hundreds of brightly colored costumes and painted faces, with lots of music and dancing to accompany them.
Whenever I photograph a parade, I always like to capture it before it starts, away from the crowds of spectators and their cell phones. This is when the people look their best and have the most energy. After several hours of dancing in the hot sun, their energy fades and their makeup runs.
